Bangor Community Theatre, Ronald McDonald House to present ‘White Christmas’

BANGOR, Maine — Bangor Community Theatre, one of the area’s oldest community theater organizations, is proud to announce will partner with Ronald McDonald House of Bangor to stage the holiday-themed musical, Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas.”

The fundraiser will commemorate Ronald McDonald House’s 30th anniversary.

“White Christmas” will be presented on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Dec. 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22, at The Grand Auditorium in Ellsworth. Based on the 1954 film starring Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney, “White Christmas” features the music of Irving Berlin and showcases many classic songs including Happy Holiday, Blue Skies, I Love A Piano and, of course, the incomparable White Christmas.

“When BCT approached us about staging ‘White Christmas’ as a fundraiser, we were immediately excited by the idea”, says Ronald McDonald House of Bangor Executive Director Darlene MacLeod in a press release. “The show is so wholesome, the music is timeless, and we’ve been looking for an opportunity to get the House more visible in the community as we celebrate our 30th anniversary this year. It’s the perfect partnership at the perfect time.”

Along with a large chorus, “White Christmas” calls for lead actors between the ages of 20 and 65, and one young girl age 6-12. There are also roles for four-six male and female dancers between the ages of 16 and 35.

Auditions will be held on the following times and dates:

  • 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, at Columbia Street Baptist Church, Bangor.
  • 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, at Columbia Street Baptist Church, Bangor.
