BANGOR, Maine — The Bangor Band will offer the third concert of its 2012 Summer Concert Series with a concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, at Gracie Theater at Husson College.
This concert is free to the public, although donations are welcomed.
Various locations are being considered this summer for the Bangor Band’s new summer location. Input from the community will be welcomed, and there will be a short survey available at all concerts this summer for people to provide their opinions.
Founded in 1859, the Bangor Band is one of the oldest continuous community bands in the United States. The conductor of the Bangor Band is Dr. Fredric Goldrich.
The Bangor Band performs concerts regularly throughout the summer months, and also offers a Christmas Concert in December, as well as performing in the Memorial Day and July 4th parades in Bangor. The Band’s ongoing sponsor is Bangor Parks and Rec. Our summer concert schedule is listed on our website: www.bangorband.org.
Among the major works that will be featured at various concerts this summer will be music from “The Pirates of the Caribbean”, the “Overture to Candide” by Leonard Bernstein, selections from Henry Mancini, “Hoagy Carmichael in Concert”, the theme from “Schindler’s List”, and highlights from the Broadway musicals “Oklahoma!”, “Sweeney Todd”, “Grease”, and “Camelot”, as well as other popular tunes and marches.
