BANGOR, Maine — Central Maine Derby, a Bangor area flat-track roller derby league, will be the first local sports team to play in the new Cross Insurance Center.
The bout will be held on Sunday, Sept. 22.
“We are very excited to be able to bout in the Cross Center,” said Shelby Fastback, skater for Central Maine Derby, in a Global Spectrum press release. “We were the last event in the former Bangor Auditorium, and it’s very exciting to be the first local sports team to play in the new Cross Center.”
Proceeds will benefit Central Maine Derby’s future programs and events, including champion cause, “Skate Don’t Hate,” which provides literature to schools and hosts in-school assemblies for local children where skaters speak about their personal experiences and share the importance of tolerance.
More details about the bout and tickets can be found at www.CrossInsuranceCenter.com as soon as they are released. Event sponsorships are available.
“Central Maine Derby is a great community event and we’re happy that they are joining in the diverse assortment of events taking place at the Cross Insurance Center,” said Global Spectrum’s Mike Dyer, general manager of the Cross Insurance Center, in a press release.
