BELFAST, Maine — The Penobscot Bay Singers will perform George Frideric Handel’s Messiah Dec. 7-8, at Union Hall in Searsport, Maine. The group will sing Part I, Behold the Lamb of God, the Hallelujah chorus, and the final Amen. Richard Dostie will conduct the singers and plans to have a small chamber orchestra as well as soloists from outside the group. Rehearsals are held 7-9 p.m. Wednesdays, at St. Margaret’s Parish Hall on Court Street in Belfast.
All singers who have sung with the Penobscot Bay Singers in previous seasons are invited to re-join the group, without audition. New singers who would like to join are requested to schedule an audition at PenBaySingers@gmail.com. Auditions will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4 and 11. Prospective singers are invited to sing with the choral group then audition after the rehearsal.
Membership fee for the Penobscot Bay Singers is $50. For the concert, each singer will be required to purchase his or her own copy of the Messiah. Dostie will conductfrom the Novello Handel edition. Students are encouraged to audition and will have membership fees waived.
