BUCKSPORT, Maine — The Bucksport Area Cultural Arts Society will present a Gala Concert featuring internationally renowned musicians in a program of classics, jazz and Broadway at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Bucksport Performing Arts Center, Bucksport Middle School, 100 Miles Lane. The artists who will perform have established roots in the Bucksport area. Joining them will be Bucksport High band director, Mark Neslusan. The event, featuring the Kawaii grand piano purchased by the society, will benefit the society’s programs and activities.
Daniel Epstein, coordinator of the event, is an internationally recognized concert pianist who lives in New York City, and spends summers on Toddy Pond with his wife Betsey Peters-Epstein, an opera singer and cabaret artist.
Also performing will be violinist Claudia Erdberg Warburg, on the music faculty of Duke University and a former member of the Ciompi String Quartet; violist Robert Dan, formerly a resident artist at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and now a teacher at Bates College; and cellist Barbara Stein Mallow, founding member of the Carnegie String Quartet and on the faculty of Mannes College The New School of Music in NYC.
Admission is by suggested donation of $5 at the door.
