CAMDEN, Maine — Eleven large replicas of artist Judy Taylor’s “History of Maine Labor” mural will be on display through Saturday, Oct. 13, at Southwest Harbor Public Library. The exhibit is in honor of the American Library Association’s 30th year celebration of Banned Books Week.
Taylor will give a talk about the mural at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the library. She will discuss the national controversy the mural created and the ways in which art and visual culture shape how American labor history is represented and remembered. She will also discuss the use of the Southwest Harbor library and how staff helped her research the subject of Maine labor.
The program is free and open to all. For information, call the library at 244-7065.
