BELGRADE LAKES VILLAGE, Maine — Maine landscape painter Matthew Russ will exhibit recent work from the Kennebec Highlands at the Maine Lakes Resource Center on Main Street in Belgrade Lakes Village.
The exhibition will open on Sunday, July 1 and will run until Sunday, July 22. The artist will give a talk about his work at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 8, with a reception to follow.
Russ is a 1996 graduate of Colby College and resident of Waterville. He draws inspiration from the landscape of the Kennebec Highlands, where he paints in the field year-round, often backpacking into remote sites to execute his paintings. A percentage of sales from the exhibition will benefit the Maine Lakes Resource Center, a 3,500 square-foot building on Main Street in Belgrade Lakes Village, whose lead partners are the Belgrade Lakes Association, the Belgrade Regional Conservation Alliance, the Maine Congress of Lake Associations, and Colby College. The center emphasizes information and instruction towards making conservation a tradition in the Belgrade Lakes region and beyond.
