SOUTHWEST HARBOR, Maine — The Acadian Chamber Players will be in concert at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Claremont Hotel, 22 Claremont Road.
They will perform works of Beethoven, Dohnanyi, Schubert, Telemann and Gliere. Players will be Jeffrey Ellenberger, violin and mandolin, Peggy McAdams, viola, and Robert Tennen, cello. The Acadian Chamber Players have been performing in Maine since 1993, and vary in size from three to six performers.
They have performed in Sorrento, Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, at the Opera Barn in Surry and in New York City. An island on Lake Mahopac in upstate NY was the site of a performance in 2006 at a newly finished house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Their innovative programming has included transcriptions by Bartok, and uses of the mandolin to play continuo parts. Music which they play spans 400 years, and includes the well known and obscure.
