WINTER HARBOR, Maine — Acadia National Park and the Schoodic Education and Research Center Institute invite the public to Junior Ranger Family Field Day 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, August 18, from 10 am til 3 pm on the campus of the center. Organizers said it will be a day filled with fun, adventure and learning.
Children of all ages are invited to participate in a variety of activities, including animal games, art projects, science explorations, scavenger hunts, old-fashioned games and more. Learn about ecology cycles, weather and wind, and birds and insects. Try the leave no trace challenge course. Meet some of Schoodic’s animal inhabitants and visit the indoor tide pool. A healthy lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 pm at the picnic pavilion.
The Junior Ranger Family Field Day will be held rain or shine free of charge. Activities are appropriate for all ages; children must be accompanied by an adult. Start at the ball field on the SERC campus to register and receive a list of activities.
The Junior Ranger Family Field Day is sponsored by Bar Harbor Bank and Trust, and coordinated by SERC Institute and Acadia National Park. SERC Institute is the nonprofit partner of Acadia National Park and the Schoodic Education and Research Center.
