8th Annual Serving to End World Hunger
Benefit Tennis Tournament
MRC is proud to host the 8th annual “Serving to End World Hunger” benefit tennis tournament on Saturday, November 23rd, at Midcoast Recreation Center, Rockport, from 12-4PM. 32 contestants play in a mixed, round-robin format. Player level is 3.0-4.0.
All proceeds are donated to world and local food distribution efforts and/or banks. Hunger is a growing problem in Maine and abroad. Today, 200,000 Mainers, including 1 in 4 children, struggle with hunger and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that nearly 870 million people of the 7.1 billion people in the world, or one in eight, were suffering from chronic undernourishment in 2010-2012. But we can make a difference again this year.
Each year this event has raised thousands of dollars thanks to the generosity of our players, guest contributors and spectators who are encouraged to attend. Please bring non-perishable items to be given to A.I.O. food pantry, Rockland.
In addition to the Main event, the “Meyer Men Challenge” will be featured from 10AM-Noon. Challengers have a chance to play Bruce & Seth Meyer (both MRC tennis pros) for a few games. You win a game and they donate $10 to local food banks- you lose and you donate $5. Make them pay!
**For the tournament and/or “Meyer Men Challenge” please sign-up by emailing Erin Meyer: firstname.lastname@example.org. Deadline is November 20th!** Don’t wait- it fills up fast!
