BELFAST, Maine — “We Still Have a Dream Rally and Vigil,” a celebration commemorating the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech, will be held beginning 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, on the front lawn of The First Church in Belfast, United Church of Christ, at 104 Church Street in Belfast.
The event will include local musicians, a reading of MLK’s speech, speakers, and a community chorus. Anyone interested in being part of the event, including musicians and those interested in singing with the community chorus should contact Rev. If you want to be part of the Community Chorus for this event, practices are 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 13 and 22, at the church.
Faith communities and other organizations are encouraged to participate and everyone is welcome to attend, as we celebrate where we’ve come in these past 50 years and to commit ourselves to continue to press forward in the fight for civil rights, racial harmony, and for justice, peace and freedom for all people.
