’25 years … and Counting’ concert

Ellsworth, Maine — WERU-FM, 89.9 FM in Blue Hill, 99.9 FM in Bangor and streaming online at weru.org, and with offices in Orland, is 25 years old. As part of its year long celebration, the nonprofit community radio station will celebrate with a concert, “25 Years – And Counting!” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at The Grand in Ellsworth.

The concert will feature some of Maine’s best known performers including Noel Paul Stookey of Peter, Paul and Mary; singer-songwriter David Mallett; Maine Humorist Tim Sample; and folk musicians Bill Schubeck, Heidi Daub, and Phil Norris. With the exception of David Mallett, all of the performers at the celebration concert played live on the WERU airwaves during the station’s first day on the air.

Many WERU programmers, present and past, will join the celebration, both from the stage and as part of the audience.

Tickets are $27 for priority upfront seating, $22 general admission, $12 youth under 14, and $50 families.
