Medical center announces addition of surgeon to its staff

ROCKPORT, Maine — Dr. Timothy O’Brien has joined Pen Bay Medical Center’s general surgery practice in Rockport.

O’Brien’s professional interests include general and minimally invasive surgery including benign and malignant breast diagnoses, hernia surgery and surgery of the GI tract.

O’Brien moved to Maine in 2010 with his wife in order to raise their children closer to family.

He completed his residency in general surgery at Beth Israel Hospital in 1997, followed by a Gastrointestinal Surgical Research Fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 1999. From 1999 to 2010, he served on the active staff at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, Mass., and at Maine General Medical

Center in Waterville from 2010 to 2012. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery.
