MACHIAS, ME – The Machias Clippers (7-7-2) were able to flip the score on the University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls (3-10), avenging a loss from earlier this season. This time around the Clippers would win by a score of 3-1.
Machias would score first off of a corner kick in the 21st minute. The Owls would respond rather quickly as Brandon Fuller (SR, St. Albans, ME) would connect on his first goal of the season. The two teams would play to a 1-1 half time draw.
The Owls would give up the lead in the 65th minute, and the Clippers would add to it just a few minutes later. UMPI would not be able to answer back in the second half, and Machias would defend their home field with a 3-1 victory.
Haidar Al-Freihy (SR, Gray, ME) would lead the home team with a goal and an assist on the evening. Matthew Manter (SR, Caribou, ME) would end the contest with 13 saves.
The Owls travel to Hampshire for a 1:30 pm showdown on Saturday. The will then meet up with Southern Maine Community College on Sunday at noon.
