CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – University of Maine at Farmington men’s soccer (2-1) freshman Jake Heimlich (Berlin, Conn./Berlin) tallied a pair of goals in Saturday afternoon’s 2-0 shutout victory at Pine Manor College (1-2) in non-conference action.
The Beavers only fired three shots on goal in the defensive battle, but two of the three came from the boot of Heimlich and found the back of the net. Heimlich broke the scoreless tie in the 52nd minute after an assist came from Tristan Price (Moultonborough, N.H./Moultonborough).
Heimlich added an insurance goal for UMF three minutes later for his third goal of the season.
Matt Wilson (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) had a busy afternoon with eight saves as the Gators lined 18 shots in his direction and earned his first shutout win of the season.
