WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College women’s soccer team used a strong second half effort to down the University of Maine at Presque Isle, 2-0, on Sunday evening at Smith Field.
The Terriers earn their second straight victory as they improve to 2-6 (1-2 NAC) while the Owls fall to 1-3.
In the opening 20 minutes, play remained at midfield as both teams could not create opportunities. Libby’s shot was stopped to the right side by a diving Nikki Bradstreet (Topsham, Maine) to keep the game scoreless.

The Terriers broke open the scoring late in the 78th minute as Taznae Fubler’s (Smiths, Bermuda) free kick from 40 yards out found the back of the net just inside the right post. Just under two minutes later, Fubler sent in Jada Samuels (Hamilton, Bermuda) on a through ball. Samuels tucked the ball under Owls’ keeper Allie Lopez to finish the scoring at 2-0.
Thomas outshot the Owls 8-6 while each team held four corner kicks a piece.
Bradstreet stopped all five shots in the victory while Lopez shouldered the loss, making two saves.
