BOSTON, MA – The Owls Baseball Team (4-28) ended their regular season schedule this weekend with two doubleheaders. UMPI would split the Friday games with Dean College, winning the first game 7-4 before falling 8-4 in the nightcap. The Owls would then visit Mass Maritime (12-16) and see an early lead slip through their hands in game one, falling by a score of 13-7. A furious comeback effort in game two would fall short and the Buccaneers would take a 7-6 victory.
MMA 13, UMPI 7
On Saturday the Owls would jump out to a five run lead in the first. Egan would plate two with a double, Brad Patterson (FR, Harker Heights, TX) would double to drive in another run, and Jacob Powell (SO, Frankfort, ME) would single up the middle to drive in two more runs. A pitching change would silence the UMPI bats from that point, giving the Buccaneers a chance to get back in the game.
The hosts would score three in the first on two walks and one hit, and then tie the game in the second on a big double by Aidan Derossiers (SR, North Attleboro, MA). MMA would go on to score in every inning, eventually building a big lead by collecting 14 hits. The Owls would get single runs in the sixth and seventh, but would not get enough to get themselves back in the game. Egan would lead the offensive effort with a three for four game, collecting two RBI.
