NEW YORK – The University of Maine at Presque Isle Baseball team (2-22) got swept in CUNYAC action this weekend.  The College of Staten Island, Baruch College, and John Jay College would all win both ends of doubleheaders on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Monday, Game 1 – JJC 8, UMPI 3

John Jay College (7-11) would set the pace early, getting two first-inning home runs.  Zach Hyde (JR, Myrtle Beach, SC) would hit a two-run blast to left field.  Later in the inning, with two outs, Jurrel Diaz (SO, Staten Island, NY) would line a ball to center.  The diving effort came up short and the ball would bounce to the fence, allowing Diaz to touch them all and be credited with a three-run inside-the-park home run.  The Owls would finally get on the board in the seventh, when Jesus Garcia (JR, Jewett City, CT) would draw a bases loaded walk.  Angel Morales (FR, Windsor, CT) would drive in a run on a fielder’s choice ground ball and an error would add a third before the Owls would be retired from the inning.
