Fort Kent, Maine—The University of Maine at Fort Kent soccer teams got their home campaigns off to winning starts, with both teams defeating University of Maine at Machias. The women won 10-1 and the men won 4-0. Both teams are defending United States College Athletic Association (USCAA) national champions.
In the men’s game, a deliberate hand ball by Machias in the Fort Kent penalty area led to a Mark Parchment penalty kick just eight minutes into the contest. The Bengals continued to dominate the offensive third of the field, peppering shots from all over throughout the contest. Rodney Witter also scored a first half goal for UMFK.
The Bengals then added second half goals from Shaun Genus and Comar Pascoe.
Bengal keeper Butch Forbes saved the only shot he faced, early in the first half.
