BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University women’s soccer team collected their second North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victory with a 2-1 win over UMaine-Farmington on Tuesday night at Boucher Field.

With this win, the Eagles improve to 3-3 (2-0 NAC), and the Beavers drop to 2-4 (1-1 NAC).

Husson’s Leah Hibbad opened the scoring in the 9th minute when she received a through ball from Taylor Fortin. It was her seventh goal of the season and made the score 1-0. Just 15 minutes later, Hibbad recorded her second goal of the game after a pass inside from Brianna Saulter. Hibbad’s second goal was the 41st of her career, which passed Kristin Pelletier for third all-time in program history.

Farmington tallied only one shot on goal in the first half, after finding it difficult to get past the strong Husson defense.

After back and forth opportunities, UMaine-Farmington cut the Husson lead in half, 2-1, with only 5:57 remaining in the second half. Kaiti Kinney passed through the defense to Lydia Roy, who found the right corner of the net. In the next minutes, Husson pushed hard to improve their lead when Kathryn McGinnis footed a powerful shot towards the goal, but it was saved by Farmington goalkeeper, Kiana Thompson. Husson collected the 2-1 win for their second win in the NAC for the 2017 season.

Husson outshot Farmington, 17-5. Husson goalkeeper, Sami Ireland, collected two saves in the net while Kiana Thompson, of UMaine-Farmington, recorded eight saves.

The Eagles travel to Colby-Sawyer on Saturday, September 23, for a 3:30 p.m. conference matchup.
