4 1

AMHERST, MA – UMPI Men’s Soccer (4-11) would get three goals in the first half to propel themselves to victory on Saturday at Hampshire College (0-8).  The Owls would go on to a 4-1 victory.

Chris Udobe (FR, Nigeria) would get things started with a goal in the sixth minute.  The Owls would get a couple of goals from defensive backs as Chad Bartlett (SO, Bradley, ME) would net his second of the year, and Reed Farrar (FR, Greene, ME) would get his first of the year, within minutes of each other.

Hampshire would cut into the lead shortly into the second half, but the Owls defense stood strong, behind the solid play of Matt Manter (SR, Caribou, ME) in goal.  Manter would collect seven saves, several of them on athletic plays that would turn away the Hampshire attack.  Ansumana Morrow (FR, Presque Isle, ME) would add some insurance late, and the owls would take the 4-1 victory.

The Owls will wrap up their regular season schedule on Tuesday as the travel to Fort Kent.  That game is scheduled for 3 pm.
