SYRACUSE, New York —The University of Maine at Fort Kent women’s soccer team just keeps winning, beating SUNY ESF in a tighter contest than expected, 4-2 on Sunday afternoon. With field conditions poor and the Mighty Oaks fired up to play the three-time defending USCAA National Champions, the game was just a 3-2 contest at the half. The Bengals now move to 13-0, extending their overall win streak to 27 matches in a row.

UMFK star forward, Sherifatu Sumaila, however showed why she is the top player in the USCAA scoring three goals in the first six minutes of the game. SUNY ESF scored their first goal four minutes into the contest and added another one off a header in the 29th minute to make it 3-2, in a very strange half of soccer. Sumaila scored less than two minutes into the game and then added her next two goals only 22 seconds apart. She also assisted Catherine Bruno in the 86th minute for an insurance goal.

Sumaila now has 30 goals on the season and has 11 double-digit goal matches thus far. She leads the USCAA in goals and points and is currently fifth in assists.

Keeper Peighton Ahlberg made two saves to pick up the win in goal for the Bengals. UMFK concludes its second long road trip of the season at Bryant and Stratton tomorrow afternoon.
