Lynn, Massachusetts—The University of Maine at Fort Kent women’s basketball team lost the back end of their back to back games at Fisher College, 76-73 on Friday evening.
The Bengals trailed early but battled back thanks to three consecutive triples at the end of the first quarter to trail by just two 20-18. The second quarter was just as close, with two lead changes and neither one leading by more than four points.
The third quarter was a similar story t the first, as another slow start found UMFK themselves down 12 (50-38) with 4:58 to go thanks to a 12-2 run by the Falcons.
UMFK would again battle back, cutting the lead to just four (69-65) with 2:51 to go in the game. Consecutive baskets by Fisher would push the lead to eight and the Bengals could not recover.
UMFK shot just 26.7% in the third to dig themselves a hole they could not get out of. Each team made 10 three point shots, but Fisher outscored UMFK 14-11 from the foul line to make the difference.
The Bengals placed five players in double figures led by Savana Jankowski and Bianca Gutierrez who each had 15. Kailee Dowler had 13, while Madison Fenner and Micayela Hernandez had 12 and 10 respectively.
