BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women’s soccer team scored five goals in the opening half en route to a 6-0 shutout over visiting UMaine-Farmington on Wednesday afternoon.
The Polar Bears move to 7-2-0 overall with the victory while the Beavers fall to 5-5-0 with the loss.
The Polar Bears scored twice in the first 12:16 to take an early lead. Morgen Gallagher scored her first goal of the day just 9:46 into the contest before Talia Missan added a tally at 12:16. Julia Patterson assisted on both goals.
Gallagher added her second goal of the contest at 27:46, sparking a three-goal surge over an 11-minute stretch that saw Kate Rusk-Kosa and Kate Morrison add markers. Morrison’s goal was the first of her career and gave the hosts a 5-0 halftime lead.
Julia Bottone rounded out the scoring with a goal at 74:19 for the Polar Bears
Kiana Thompson was peppered all day in goal for UMF and made ten saves as Bowdoin owned a 25-5 shot advantage
Three Polar Bears shared time in goal including Anne Parrish (two saves), Rachel Stout (one save) and Sabrina Albanese (one save)
