BEVERLY, Mass. — Emylee Wood collected a rebound from a blocked shot and tucked in the deciding tally midway through overtime as Endicott College defeated the University of New England, 2-1, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey action Tuesday night (Sep. 19) at North Field.
The Gulls (5-1, 2-0 CCC) had leveled the contest with just over three minutes left in regulation on a goal by Sophia Cogliano, forcing the extra session. During the initial stages of OT, the hosts denied two UNE shots to keep things even — one by goalie Taylor Farrin, and a defensive save by Samantha Crowley.
After nearly 58 minutes of scoreless play, the Nor’easters (5-2, 2-1 CCC) broke through with a drive by Kersey Boulay (Liberty, Maine), off a penalty corner insert from Olivia Madore (Lyman, Maine).
Farrin logged seven stops in the 2nd half and ended with 10, while UNE goalie Liz Sargent (South Burlington, Vt.) posted six saves in the match.
The Nor’easters are scheduled to visit Western New England University on Friday (5 p.m.).
