BRYN ATHYN, Pa. — The University of New England outscored Bryn Athyn College 4-0 in the third quarter to pull away on its way to a 15-8 victory in a men’s lacrosse match played Saturday at General Nelson Stadium.
The win extends the Nor’easters‘ most successful start to 5-1, while the Lions drop to 1-3.
Mitch Mullin paced a balanced UNE attack with three goals. Andrew Curro, Alex Zadworny and Jason Erwin each scored a pair of markers to aid in the victory. Dan Auger led all players with six points (1 goal, 5 assists).
Jon Carr scored three goals to lead the way for Bryn Athyn, while Ricky Tran added two.
On top 8-5 at intermission, the Nor’easters separated themselves from the hosts with goals from Curro, J.T. Oliver, Zadworny and Erwin in the pivotal third frame.
Matthew Layton had a brilliant afternoon on the draw, winning 10 of 13 and coming up with five ground balls. Wyatt Ehrhardt and Adam Race each had four ground balls and two caused turnovers, while Pat Pohle contributed three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
David Pearson was the winning goalkeeper, totaling seven saves for the Nor’easters. Brad DePasquale stopped 16 shots for Bryn Athyn.
