BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Trinity women’s soccer team scored 15 minutes into Saturday afternoon’s game and held on to hand Bowdoin a 1-0 loss in conference play.
The Polar Bears (7-3-0, 3-2-0 NESCAC) outshot the visiting Bantams (7-1-2, 5-1-1 NESCAC) but were unable to find the net.
Tricia Pollock scored 15:31 into the game off a long shot from outside the box. Pollock found the low left corner to score the eventual game-winner.
Julia Pitino stopped six Bowdoin shots to record the shutout, including three in the second half. The Polar Bears took a corner kick in the final nine minutes, with Emma Beane forcing Pitino to make a save.
Trinity peppered Bowdoin goalie Rachel Stout with several shots shortly after Pollock’s goal, but the keeper kept the Polar Bears within striking distance by denying the bids.
Stout made a pair of saves in the contest.
