FARMINGTON, Maine – The Thomas College men’s basketball team used a big first half to power past the University of Maine at Farmington, 74-58, in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup on Saturday afternoon.
Thomas extended their winning streak to four games as they now sit at 5-3 (3-1 NAC) while the Beavers drop to .500 at 4-4 (2-2 NAC).
The Terriers pulled away in the first half as they took a 41-28 at the break on 15-of-24 shooting from the floor. On the other side, the Beavers could not keep pace with Thomas as they went 4-for-15 from behind the arch.
The pace remained the same in the second half as the Terriers outscored the Beavers 33-30. Throughout the contest, the Terriers dominated the boards 45-27.
Carlos Gonzalez (Kennebunk, Maine) held a game-high 18 points along with seven rebounds, three assists, and four blocks. Zach Mackinnon (Kennebunk, Maine) and Angel Gonzalez (Orlando, Fla.) each tallied 16 points and four rebounds while John Morgan (Sanford, Maine) added 11 points and eight boards.
Eric Berry led the Beavers in scoring with 16 points with two threes and four rebounds. Riley Robinson scored 11 points with seven rebounds and one assist while Milani Hicks scored 10 points with seven rebounds, two steals, and three blocks.
The Terriers will return to action on Saturday, December 30 as they travel to Springfield College for the James Naismith Holiday Tournament.
