At Brighton, Mass. on Saturday, Simmons College erased a one-goal deficit and scored two unanswered goals for its victory over Thomas College of Waterville. The Sharks won their second straight match and improve to 2-2 on the season, while the Terriers fall to 2-3.

The match followed the college’s Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to officially open the Daly Athletics Complex.

Simmons limited Thomas to five shots, while attempting 12, but Thomas held a 10-7 margin in penalty corners.

First year forward Olivia Trull tallied her first collegiate goal with a shot from the left side of the circle that snuck inside the right post to pull the Sharks even at 1-1 with 8:41 to play in the opening half.

Simmons took the lead for good with the only goal of the second half. First year midfielder Hannah Scott ripped a shot from just inside the circle that was tipped in by sophomore forward Missie Maiewski just 4:46 into the second half.

Both teams were unable to score for the remainder of the half as the Sharks held on for the win.

The Terriers broke into the scoring column with 20:27 to go in the first half to take a 1-0 lead. Sophomore midfielder Tiffany Weeks of Kennebunk sent a cross from the top of the circle to the slot, where first year midfielder Kelci Faulkingham of Belfast put the ball away for her first collegiate goal.

First year goalie Audrey Simmons made three saves to earn the victory for Simmons.

Senior keeper Abbie Charrier of Waldo stopped seven shots for Thomas.
