LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – On Senior Day, the Lyndon State College softball team faced Thomas College dropping game one, 12-1, and game two, 5-1, Saturday afternoon on Skip Pound Field.
Before the start of the game, Shelby Sheridan (Enosburg Falls, Vt.) and Brooke Dolloff (Rumford, Maine) were recognized for their contributions to the Softball program over the past four seasons.
The Terriers started strong with four runs in the first. Courtney Veilleux doubled to right center to bring in Colpack from second, then Veilleux scored on a first and third double steal. Madison Bentz drove a ball to left center for a double to plate Korrie Laren before Bentz scored on an error.
Thomas added another run in the second as Laren singled to left to drive in Katie Taylor for the 5-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third, Sheridan was stuck on third and capitalized on a wild pitch to score the Hornets lone run, ending the game 5-1 in favor of the Terriers.
The Hornets held the Terriers scoreless throughout the remaining innings but were unable to mount a comeback.
Sheridan pitched a complete game allowing five hits while striking out three, with the loss. Chelsea Hale picked up the win with four hits, striking out four.
Courtney Veilleux went two-for-three getting one RBI for the Terriers. The Hornets had four players get a hit with Sheridan scoring the lone run.
