LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – On Senior Day, the Lyndon State College softball team faced Thomas College dropping game one, 12-1, and game two, 5-1, Saturday afternoon on Skip Pound Field.
Before the start of the game, Shelby Sheridan (Enosburg Falls, Vt.) and Brooke Dolloff (Rumford, Maine) were recognized for their contributions to the Softball program over the past four seasons.
In the top of the first, the Terriers’ Lexi Colpack stole home to plate their first run on a first and third double steal. The Hornets’ Kiya DeWitt (Pittsburg, N.H.) tied it up in the bottom of the first after Dolloff lined one between the first and second baseman, allowing DeWitt to score.
From there on out the Terriers plated runs in each of the next five innings: three in the second, one in the third, fourth, and fifth, and five in the sixth to close out the game 12-1.
DeWitt pitched a complete game allowing twelve hits while striking out two for the Hornets. Sheridan went two-for-three at the plate, DeWitt had the lone run, and Dolloff picked up the one RBI.
Sydney LeBourveau allowed two hits, one run, and struck out five for the Terriers to pick up the win. Madison Bentz went 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored while Lauren Farina tallied three RBIs, all on sacrifice flies.
