NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Thomas College women’s lacrosse team defeated Johnson State, 20-4, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action on Saturday evening at Norwich University.
In the victory, the Terriers improve to 2-5 (2-2 NAC) on the season while the Badgers still search for their first win at 0-4, (0-3 NAC).
Samantha Greenlaw led the Terriers offense with a career-high seven goals and two assists in the win. Lindsey Allen (Jay, Maine) netted five goals on ten shots while Sophia LaVallee (Pawling, N.Y.) contributed with four goals and an assist. Tiffany Weeks (Kennebunk, Maine), Hailey Mullen (South Portland, Maine), Kimberly Banks (Swan’s Island, Maine), and Cassidy West (Vassalboro, Maine) each tallied a goal for Thomas.
Nichole Weeks had a big game for the Badgers, scoring all four of her teams goals. She accounted for seven of the team’s eight shots and scooped up 11-of-18 groundballs.
The Terriers offense went to work early as Greenlaw scored three while Allen netted a pair to take a 5-0 lead in the first six minutes. Under a minute later, Weeks added her first of the game for Johnson to cut the deficit to four. Weeks and Greenlaw responded with back-to-back markers in less than a minute to increase the Thomas lead.
Weeks looked to keep her team in the game with her second goal to make a 7-2 game with 20 minutes left in the first half. At the midpoint of the half, Thomas poured in five more goals including three from LaVallee to push the lead to 12-2. Weeks scored her third of the game for the Badgers while Mullen finished on a goal for Thomas to end the scoring at the break, 13-3.
The Terriers offense continued to score in the second half as they went on a 7-0 scoring run. Allen contributed on three goals in the span while Weeks chipped in another for Johnson, finishing at 20-4.
Syndi Collier (Oakland, Maine) made two saves in goal for Thomas for the win while Heatherann Esden turned aside 11 shots for the Badgers.
