BANGOR, Maine– The Husson University baseball team (10-12, 6-4 NAC) split the doubleheader hosting the Thomas College (Maine) Terriers (3-17, 1-5 NAC), 3-1 and 0-3, while competing in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at the Dr. John W. Winkin Sports Complex on Wednesday afternoon.

Game 1: Husson 3, Thomas (Maine) 1
HOW IT HAPPENED:

Terriers’ Isaiah Arana opened up the day placing a perfect bunt down the third base line on Alex Brooks’ first pitch, catching the Eagles off-guard and reaching first. This hit woke up the Husson defense and offense, as Sam Huston drove in the first run of the game sending Conor Maguire home with a solid infield hit in the bottom of the 1st as the Eagles closed out the inning with an early 2-0 advantage.

Thomas cut the Eagle’s lead in half off a hard shot up the third base line in the second. Despite Huston making an impressive diving stop and whipping it home, Darren Kelly just barely beat out the throw home (2-1).

Husson held onto this lead through the 7th inning, with the help from Nick Guerrette setting up back-to-back double plays in the 5th and 6th innings as the Eagles captured a 3-1 victory in the first game.
