PAUL SMITH’S, N.Y.— The Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) women’s soccer team won its third straight Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) game defeating the Bobcats of Paul Smith’s College 4-0 on Saturday, Sept. 16.

First-year Jessica Haskell (Saco, Maine) got things going for the SeaWolves finishing a ball from co-captain Emily Harris (Dayton, Maine) to put SMCC up 1-0 inside the 10-minute mark. Harris would register her second goal of the season 20 minutes later on a set piece that beat Bobcat’s goalkeeper Rachel Michaels.

First-year Grace MacDougall (Standish, Maine) contributed with one of her own seconds out of the half on a pass from first-year Callie O’Brien (South Portland, Maine) to give the road team a 3-0 advantage. O’Brien registered her 16th point of the season slotting one by Michaels with less than 12 minutes remaining in regulation to secure the 4-0 win.

SMCC’s goalkeeper Shae Couture (Rochester, N.H.) recorded her second clean sheet of the season tallying four saves behind a disciplined SeaWolves defense.

In a post-game interview, Head Coach Julia Cyr reflected, “We had another tough task on the road, to play a Paul Smith’s team we had never seen before. Nonetheless, we came out strong, establishing a dominance physically and showing that we could possess the ball. The defense played flawless, not allowing a real scoring threat. The offense came together to finish four of several goal-scoring opportunities. We are looking forward to a big conference matchup on Wednesday with powerhouse NHTI.”

The Lady SeaWolves are 2-3-1 on the road at New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) spanning the previous five seasons. Kickoff in Concord, N.H. is set for 3:45 p.m.
