WILLAMANTIC, Conn. – Five players scored in double figures to lead the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors to a 75-47 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference men’s basketball game Saturday afternoon at Geissler Gym.
Eastern Connecticut extends its win streak to nine games with the win improving to 13-5 overall, and remains undefeated in the Little East Conference. Southern Maine drops to 6-11 overall and 1-6 in the conference.
Tarchee Brown scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds to earn team-high scoring honors for the Warriors. Kendall Marquez and Hugh Lindo each scored 12 points, while Lindo notched a double-double with a game-high 10 rebounds. Carlos Gonzalez and Tyrell Arunum each scored 11 points.
Southern Maine junior Christian McCue (Hampden, Maine/Hampden Academy) led all scorers with 19 points on 8-for-15 shooting. Senior James Starks III (Miami, Fla./Miami Killian) added eight points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Marquez scored all 12 of his points in the first half, knocking down 4-of-5 three-pointers as ECSU shot 50.0 percent (18-for-36) from the field in the first half to open up a commanding 44-16 lead at the break. The Huskies shot just 28.6 percent (8-for-28) in the first half. Souther
