FRANKLIN, Mass. – Junior Ally Little (Stoneham, Mass.) scored two goals and assisted on a third to propel the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 4-0 shut out victory over the Dean College Bulldogs in a non-conference women’s soccer game Saturday afternoon at Longley Field.
Southern Maine outshot Dean 20-7 to dominate the Bulldogs and improve its record to 2-1. Dean College remains winless at 0-2.
Little started the scoring for Southern Maine in the 19th minute earning the game-winner on an assist from senior Hana McNally (Burlington City, N.J./Holy Cross). Little’s first goal of the season also marked her first collegiate game-winner as the score stood 1-0 through the half.
In the second half, Little doubled the Huskies’ advantage early scoring an unassisted goal in the 52nd minute making it 2-0. Sophomore Emma Cost (Waterboro, Maine/Massabesic) made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute with Little assisting on the play, before freshman Sarah McLaughlin (Derry, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) tallied her first intercollegiate goal in the 62nd minute for the 4-0 final.
Junior Taylor Canastra (Fairhaven, Mass.) made a pair of second half saves to earn the shut out and the win for Southern Maine. Dean College sophomore goalkeeper Macy Parisee (East Freetown, Mass/Apponequet Regional) was busy in net, making 12 saves.
