GORHAM, Maine – Sophomore Jerry Randolph (Malmo, Sweden/Fria Loroverken) had a goal and an assist as three different players scored for the Plymouth State University Panthers in a 3-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference men’s soccer game Saturday afternoon at Hannaford Field.

Earning their second straight win, the Panthers improve to 4-8 overall and 3-2 in the Little East.  Southern Maine is now 5-8-2 with the loss and 0-4-1 in the conference.

PSU took an early 1-0 lead in the eighth minute when Randolph scored his second goal of the season.  Randolph was able to knock the ball into the net after a strong service from senior Nick Rutherford (Sydney, Australia/Batemans Bay) that was flicked on by sophomore Joni Hongisto (Kaarina, Finland/Kaarina) to give the Panthers a one-goal lead that would stand through the half.

Junior Juan Rivera (Mt.Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane) made it 2-0 in favor of the Panthers in the 59th minute as Rutherford again orchestrated a set piece for PSU before freshman Erik Armskog (Floda, Sweden) scored the final goal of the game in the 86th minute for the 3-0 result.  Armskog received a forward ball from Randolph at the top of the box, and made a move to the right before unleashing a shot for his first goal of the season.

Freshman Linus Lindeberg (Stockholm, Sweden/Fredikabremer Gymnaseit) earned the win for Plymouth State making five saves.  Southern Maine freshman goalkeeper Richard Glemawu (Accra, Ghana/South Kent (Conn.)) made four saves in the loss.

Southern Maine returns to action on Wednesday (7 p.m.) at St. Joseph’s College in a non-conference game.
