Orono Softball 1 at Old Town 4

At Old Town, an RBI single by Kayla Madden and Susie Outman’s RBI double were the key blows for Old Town in a tight victory over rival Orono on Wednesday afternoon.
The 9-0 Coyotes, the defending Class B state champions, took advantage of a wild pitch and a couple of errors to pick up the other two runs.
The Class C Red Riots (7-2) hung in against the Coyotes with Katie Smith’s RBI double initially cutting Old Town’s lead to 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning.
Outman also rapped a single for Old Town, and Sami Milton posted a pair of bunt singles. Kendra Hayward struck out eight and walked no one, and she limited Orono to five hits.
Molly Burr doubled for the Coyotes, and pitcher Jillian Woodward also pitched well, striking out five, walking none, hitting two and giving up eight hits.
