Nokomis Football 27 at Oceanside 34

At Rockland, Sam Meklin threw for four touchdowns and ran one in from the 1-yard line to lead Oceanside by Nokomis of Newport in the mutual opener.

Meklin completed 12 of 20 passes for 245 yards and four TDs. Dan Hendricks had six receptions for 164 yards and a TD and ran for 35 yards on five carries.

Sophomore running back Noah Kershner paced the Warriors with 114 yards on 26 carries and one TD.  Sophomore Josh King also added two scores for the Warriors. Nokomis quarterback Chandler Foss was 8 for 25 for 125 yards and two TDs.

Meklin helped seal the victory at the end of the third quarter when he was able to sack Nokomis’ punter, Zach McFarland, deep into Nokomis territory. The Mariners took over on the Nokomis 26-yard line and Raheem James completed the scoring for the Mariners on a 9-yard TD pass from Meklin.

The game had been postponed due to lightning after playing less than four minutes Friday night.
