ORONO, Maine – What looked like would end in a 0-0 stalemate, turned into a thrilling 2OT victory for the Black Bears’ Women’s Soccer team. The Black Bears came into this game on a 4 game conference losing streak looking to bounce back against rival UNH during their annual Pink Game to benefit the Christine B. Foundation.

The game remained scoreless through 90 minutes; UNH outshot Maine 7-5 in the first (4 shots on goal for UNH, 2 for Maine) and 10-9 in the second half (4 shots on goals each.) Both teams took 3 corner kicks over the course of regulation.

The first 10 minute overtime saw 3 UNH shots, only 1 on net, saved by Samantha Cobotic, Maine only managed one shot in the first overtime.

With the second overtime winding down, Kaitlyn Ball got a long pass which she then tried to dribble through the defense on the right side of the box, she then turned around and found Vivien Beil all by herself just outside the 18′, where she fired a shot on net that hit the bottem left corner, just out of reach of UNH goalkeeper Mimi Borkan, giving Maine their first conference victory since September 29th, and Vivien’s 2nd goal of the season. The goal occured 117 minutes and 2 seconds into the game.

Cobotic gets her 3rd win of the season, her record now 3-4-0. She made 8 saves in the game, her third shutout of the season. Borkan gets the loss for UNH with 7 of 8 shots saved, her record now 6-6-3.
