CASTINE, Maine – Matthew Caron and Dalton Moore scored in the first half to lead Maine Maritime Academy men’s soccer to a 2-1 win over New England College in North Atlantic Conference action on Ritchie Field.
Caron put the Mariners on the board when he headed in his second goal of the season in the 20th minute. Erik Andreasen found Moore in front of the net with a perfectly placed ball that Moore redirected in the net beating NEC keeper Samuel Thompson in the putting the Mariners up 2-0.
The Pilgrims broke the shutout in the 70th minute when Sina Samali found the back of the net.
Joshua Reeks was impressive in net for the Mariners, tallying seven goals. Thompson tallied six saves in net for the Pilgrims.
The Mariners improve to 2-4-1 on the season, and 1-1 in NAC play, while the Pilgrims fall to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
