BANGOR, Maine – The Husson University Baseball team (6-10, 2-2 NAC) split a doubleheader with New England College (15-5) (4-2 NAC) on Saturday afternoon at the Dr. John W. Winkin Sports Complex.

How it Happened:

1st Inning: Once again, New England College scored first with Nick Powers (Malden, MA) stealing home in the 1st inning. Nunez laced an RBI-double into right field for the Pilgrims. However, the Eagles responded with a single by Alex Chapman (Westford, VT) that scored Conor Maguire (Ellsworth, ME). HU tied the game at two after Guerrette scored on a balk.

3rd Inning: Luke Covey (Milton, VT) broke the tie with a sacrifice fly to center field. The Green and Gold lead 4-2 after Chapman swiped home.

5th Inning: The Eagles extended their lead to 8-2 against the Pilgrims. Mike Wong (Lewiston, ME) hit a single into center field which scored two runs. HU tacked on two more runs after a throwing error and a wild pitch by NEC.

7th Inning: The Pilgrims managed a few hits, but they couldn’t score any more runs. HU secured a 8-2 victory against New England College in Game 2.

Batters: Husson

Wong with two RBI’s, a hit, and a run scored.

Guerrette with two hits and two runs scored.

Covey, Chapman each with a hit, RBI, and run scored.

Pitchers: Husson

Cody Collins (2-1) went five innings as he allowed two runs on four hits, five walks, and struck out four.

Nolan Dousa pitched two innings as he allowed three hits with a walk and strikeout.

Batters: New England College

Nunez had a hit and an RBI.

Evan Delaney (Hadley, MA) had a hit and an RBI.

Powers with a hit and run scored.

Pitchers: New England College

Jeam Castillo went 2 ⅔ innings as he allowed four runs on three hits, six walks, and three strikeouts.

Shaun Cormier pitched two innings with three runs on four hits and two strikeouts.

John Prentice allowed one run and two walks.

Brendan Halloran pitched ⅓ of an inning.

Selah Dalomba pitched one inning with two strikeouts.

The Eagles face New England College in another doubleheader tomorrow at the Winx Sports Complex. The first game starts at noon and the second game at 2:30 p.m.
