POULTNEY, Vt. – Maine Maritime Academy women’s basketball cruised to a dominating 83-28 victory over Green Mountain College on Friday night, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action inside of the Eagle Dome.
The Mariners held the Eagles to just one point in the first quarter, building a 30-1 advantage. Green Mountain fought back in the second quarter, outscoring the Mariners 17-15, but Maine Maritime took a 45-18 lead into the intermission and never looked back claiming the 83-28 victory.
Alayne Felix (Mahopac, N.Y.) led the Mariners with 17 points, going 8-for-9 from the floor, four rebounds, two assists and a steal, Kristi Willey (Topsham, Maine) added 12 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals and Caitlin Kane (Wilton, Maine) added 11 points, three assists, two steals, and a rebound. Emily Melick (Sudbury, Mass.) led the Mariners with four assists, and also added nine points and three rebounds, Melinda Ogden (Searsport, Maine) and Avae Traina (Newcastle, Maine) led the Mariners with five rebounds each, while also adding seven points and six points, respectively.
Mercedes Rideout led the Eagles with 10 points, two steals, a rebound, and an assist, while Rachel Moore added six points, and Taylor Hill tallied a game-high seven rebounds.
The Mariners improve to 8-7 overall, and 5-4 in the NAC, while the Eagles fall to 0-13 on the season and 0-9 in conference play.
