WATERVILLE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy women’s soccer picked up a 3-0 victory over Thomas College, their third shutout of the season, on Tuesday night in their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener.
Freshman Olivia Paquette (Waterboro, Maine) put the Mariners on the board with her first collegiate goal at 6:12.
Freshman Eryn Doiron (Wilton, Maine) added her second career goal after the 20-minute mark on an assist from sophomore Susana DeFrank (Temecula, Calif.), giving the Mariners a two-goal lead. The Mariners outshot the Terriers 12-5 in the first 45 minutes, taking the 2-0 lead into halftime.
Doiron teamed up with sophomore Makayla Lewis (Purcellville, Va.) early in the second half to give Lewis her NAC-leading, seventh goal of the season, to make it a three-goal game.
The Mariners held the Terriers to zero shots in the second half, posting a 27-5 shot advantage en route to their second-straight shutout against Thomas.
Senior Maggie McConkey (Fryeburg, Maine) recorded two saves in the victory for the Mariners in nearly 84 minutes in net, while freshman Alice Van Kovn (Lancaster, Calif.) went untested in net in the final 6:11 of play. Terriers’ keeper Paige Leary collected 15 saves in the loss.
