Durham, New Hampshire- The University of Maine Women’s Ice Hockey team lost game one of a two game series, with the University of New Hampshire, 4-1, on Friday night.
After a scoreless first period, Jonna Curtis scored a goal for the Wildcats at 1:15 into the second. Her teammate Marie-Jo Pelletier quickly added another one at the 2:51 mark. The period ended with a 2-0 UNH lead.
New Hampshire’s Amy Schlagel started third period scoring when she added another goal to the Wildcat lead, at 11:56 into the period. Maine’s Freshman forward, Kara Washer, put the Black Bears on the scoreboard at 15:17. The goal was unassisted. The Wildcats finished off scoring with an empty net goal by Devan Taylor. The game ended in a 4-1 UNH victory.
In net, Carly Jackson made 33 saves for Maine, as Hilary Cashin made 21 saves for New Hampshire
