Richmond, Va. – With two second-half goals from freshman back Hana Davis, the No. 24 Maine Black Bears downed the Richmond Spiders 3-1 on Friday afternoon at Crenshaw Field. After trailing 1-0 early, Maine rattled off three unanswered goals to take control of the contest.
The Black Bears outshot the Spiders 24-7 on the day, including 15-4 on the net. Following Richmond’s goal, Maine rarely allowed Richmond a scoring opportunity, keeping possession in their offensive end for the majority of the second half. Maine held an 8-3 advantage in penalty corners, while Richmond recorded 12 saves to the Black Bears’ three.
