Stillwater, Oklahoma — The University of Maine softball team split its two contests on day two at the Mizuno Classic, hosted at Oklahoma State. Maine opened the day with an 8-3 victory over Saint Francis before falling in game two to No. 24 Oklahoma State, 8-0 in five innings.
Maine’s bats were unable to stay hot in game two as No. 24 Oklahoma State kept Maine off the board, taking an 8-0 victory in five innings.
The Cowgirls’ Logan Simunek tossed the five-inning no-hitter, walking one and striking out four to earn her second victory of the season.
Oklahoma State opened the scoring with three runs in the first before adding two each in the second and third before putting the game away with a single run in the bottom of the fifth.
The Black Bears close out the Mizuno Classic on Sunday when they take on Nebraska Omaha at 11 a.m. EST.
