CORAL GABLES, Florida — The University of Maine baseball team loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the eighth inning Tuesday, but could not score as Miami held on for a 4-3 win over the Black Bears.
The Hurricanes improved to 7-9 while UMaine fell to 6-9.
Trevor DeLaite spotted Miami a 4-0 lead after three innings but managed to go 6 1/3 and gave up just the four runs on three hits while recording three strikeouts.
Romy Gonzalez paced the ‘Canes offense with an RBI double and a solo home run.
Danny Casals hit a solo home run and a single for the Black Bears.
