SMITHFIELD, Rhode Island – The Black Bear’s Women’s Soccer team ended their two-game losing streak and improve to 3-1 in away games as they shut out Bryant University 2-0 on Friday evening.
In the Black Bears third shutout of the season, they kept their shot count low but accurate, letting go 8 shots in the game, 5 on net. The first goal came early, only 5:26 into the game as Anetra Byfieldscored off a long cross from Shannon Armitage. The Black Bears took the early lead 1-0 and held it until halftime. It was Byfield’s 3rd goal of the season.
In the second half the Black Bears added the insurance goal with Kaitlyn Ball also scoring her 3rd goal of the season, 68:19 into the game when she challenged 2 defenders in the box and got separation and fired it past Bryant Goalkeeper Kaylan Conrad.
Bryant took 12 shots in the game, 4 of them on net, all saved by Maine Goalkeeper Annalena Kreibisch, who got her third shutout of the season; she improves to 4-2-0 on the season. On the other side of the pitch, Conrad for Bryant saved 3 of 5 shots faced, her record falls to 3-4-0 on the season.
