WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College women’s basketball team snapped a four-game skid as the Terriers defeated Johnson State College, 85-42, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play on Saturday afternoon at Larry Mahaney Gymnasium.

The Terriers improve to 2-5 (1-2 NAC) while the Badgers remain winless at 0-5 (0-3 NAC).

The Terriers came out strong in the opening quarter as they jumped out to a 24-3 lead on a balanced attack from eight different scorers.  Johnson struggled offensively as the Badgers did not convert a field goal and finished 0-for-12 from the floor.  The Thomas defense also forced eight turnovers.

In the second frame, Thomas continued to stretch their lead as they took a 41-12 advantage before the break.  Johnson still could not find a groove offensively as they ended the half shooting 12 percent from the field.  Molly Carroll (Southwest Harbor, Maine) led the charge for Thomas with a pair of buckets and a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.

Throughout the second half, the Terriers extended the margin as they outscored the Badgers 44-30.

Carroll led the Terriers offense with 19 points including a flawless 9-for-9 from the free throw line and five assists.  Amira Jones (Chicopee, Mass.) neared a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds while Jordan Turner (Casco, Maine) finished with eight points, eight assists, and six boards.

Devin Libby and Kaitlyn Brouard each contributed with 10 points in the effort for the Badgers and combined for nine rebounds. Jocelyn Pellerin ended with six points, four rebounds, and four steals.

The Terriers will host the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Wednesday, December 6 for a 5:00 p.m. non-conference matchup.
